About the Artist
Art in every day life
Anna Graham is an award winning artist who has been painting for as long as she can remember. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she was surrounded by the rhythm, movement, and energy of the city, which sparked her early fascination with color and form. At the age of nine, her mother recognized her natural love and interest for art and enrolled her in her first oil painting class, igniting a passion that would become her lifelong calling.
Anna pursued her studies by attending Barnsdall on the historic Franklin Lloyd Wright Hollyhock House grounds and later studied and majored in Fine Arts at the Renowned Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of design in LA where she trained under celebrated artists and educators including Sam Clayberger, Ralph Bacerra, and Watson Cross.
The formative years deepened her technical skill and gave her the confidence to develop her own distinct artistic voice. Over the decades, Anna has painted prolifically while also teaching private oil painting lessons, nurturing creativity in others as she refined her own craft.Being a part of juried exhibitions and receiving awards throughout her career, including the Bank of America award in Art as well as the most recent 1st place for the Plein Air category in the 2026 Desert Plein Air Association and other competition awards.
Her work spans oil, acrylic, watercolor,, pottery and mixed media, functional art, yet oil remains her deepest love—the medium through which she most authentically channels emotion, atmosphere, and story. Whether painting vivid landscapes, expressive abstractions, or intimate studies, Anna's art reflects both discipline and intuition, offering a dialogue between the seen and the felt.
After decades in Los Angeles, and visits to the desert almost every year throughout her life, Anna finally relocated her studio and Anagramfineart to the Coachella Valley, where the desert has become both muse and teacher. She draws inspiration from the mystical beauty of the desert's vast open spaces, shifting sands, rugged mountains, and delicate flora. For Anna, the desert is more than a subject, it is a feeling, an intensity, a spiritual landscape that resonates with her inner world. Each painting becomes an act of communion with nature, a way of capturing fleeting light, atmosphere, and presence.
In addition to her studio practice, Anna is a proud member and board member of the Desert Plein Air Association. She regularly joins fellow artists on plein air outings, where she deepens her connection to the land by painting directly from life. She is a proud juried in member of the Desert Art Center Gallery in Palm Springs and is also active in local art associations and exhibits regularly in the region, with her work held in private as well as corporate and entertainment collections.
For Anna Graham, art is not just about making images, it is about living fully, paying attention, and honoring beauty in all its forms. With over fifty years of dedication to her craft, she continues to evolve, painting every day as a way of both exploring and celebrating the world around her and sharing it with others.
